About
Our Story
My connection with Madagascar began many years ago, when I first arrived as a graduate research student to study the ecology of small mammals. Our team explored how these animals adapt and interact within rapidly changing environments, and how those ecological changes can affect the health and livelihoods of nearby communities. During my time in the field and in rural villages, I was constantly amazed not only by the island’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes, but also by its rich culture and the warmth and resilience of the Malagasy people.
Madagascar taught me something important: people and nature are deeply connected. Local communities depend on the land, forests, and wildlife in many ways, while the future of that nature also depends on how people live, travel, and use these landscapes. This connection is not always simple, but it is what makes responsible travel so important. When tourism is done with care, it can help protect Madagascar’s rare wildlife while also creating meaningful opportunities for local communities.
This blog was created with that idea in mind.
My goal is to make travel in Madagascar easier, clearer, safer, and more accessible for people who love nature, adventure, and unique experiences. I share practical advice, travel ideas, and insights based on research, time in the field, and a deep appreciation for this remarkable island.
If you travel with care, respect local culture, stay curious, and understand how delicate the environment is, your journey can have a positive impact. It can support local families and help protect Madagascar’s irreplaceable nature in the long term.
Welcome. I hope this blog helps you plan an unforgettable and responsible journey through one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.
